About Planscape

The problem we set out to solve

Africa's AEC sector delivers world-class projects — donor-funded hospitals, sovereign airports, sustainable mixed-use developments — but the software it relies on is built for a different reality. Per-seat USD subscriptions, desktop-only workflows that assume fibre internet, CDE pricing that punishes mid-size practices, support tickets answered in office hours nine timezones away.

We were paying Autodesk Construction Cloud for seats we never used. We were sweating the FX spread on a $40/seat subscription every month. Our coordinators were screenshotting clashes into WhatsApp groups because the official tool didn't work without 4G. So we built the thing we wished existed.

What we believe

• Flat per-firm pricing — not per seat. Software shouldn't tax you for being a bigger team.
• Offline-first is a design goal, not a "feature roadmap" item. The plant room doesn't have fibre.
• Local currency invoicing — UGX, KES, NGN. Your software bill shouldn't track the USD spot rate.
• ISO 19650 is a starting line, not a sales pitch. The templates ship pre-built.
• Audit trail is structural, not optional. Hash-chained writes from day one.
• Open standards win — IFC 4, BCF 2.1, COBie 2.4, IDS, bSDD. We integrate, we don't lock in.

The team

Planscape is built by a small team of AEC practitioners and engineers based in Kampala. Architects, MEP engineers, BIM managers, and software developers who've spent careers delivering on the projects we now build software for.

We're not VC-funded and we're not trying to be. The product earns its keep — flat per-firm pricing, modest cloud bills, no growth-at-all-costs runway pressure. We answer support tickets in the same timezone you read them.

Where we're going

The pilot cohort runs through 2026. By end of 2026 we expect to support 40+ practices across East and West Africa across a mixed portfolio of healthcare, transport, education, and commercial work. Our 2027 roadmap focuses on:

• Nairobi edge replica for sub-100ms latency across East Africa
• ArchiCAD + Tekla plugins (Revit is shipping, the IFC substrate is host-agnostic)
• French-language UI for francophone West Africa
• Mobile money payouts to contractors via the same Flutterwave rails we use for collection
