Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between STING Tools and Planscape?
STING Tools is the Revit plugin only — 763+ commands for tagging, drawing production, MEP engineering, and healthcare validation. It runs entirely on your workstation, no cloud required. Planscape bundles STING Tools with a cloud CDE, mobile app, GPS site capture, BCF round-trip, and team collaboration. If you're a solo Revit author who just wants the plugin, pick STING Tools. If your firm runs multi-discipline projects with site teams and clients, pick Planscape.
What does "per firm" actually mean?
One flat price covers your whole firm, up to the plan's coordinator (Planscape) or seat (STING Tools) cap. So Planscape Studio at $130/mo covers up to 10 coordinators in your firm — invite the whole team without per-seat math. When you hit the cap, upgrade or remove inactive users.
What happens when we exceed our coordinator/seat cap?
We use a soft block. You can keep inviting users past your cap — nothing breaks, no surprise invoices — but everyone with admin access sees an upgrade prompt explaining you're over. You have 14 days to either upgrade to the next tier or remove inactive members. After 14 days, new sign-ins are paused (existing sessions keep working) until you upgrade. We never auto-charge you for overages.
Can I trial both products?
Yes — your 14-day free trial gives you full access to both STING Tools and the Planscape cloud bundle so you can decide what fits. At the end of the trial, pick whichever product (and tier) works for you. If you don't pick anything, your account moves to read-only mode — you keep access to your data but can't create new projects or sync the plugin until you choose a plan.
Can my clients access projects?
Yes — clients and contractors join as external project members without buying a separate licence. They get role-restricted access to the project you've invited them to (typically Viewer or Client role). They don't count against your coordinator cap as long as their firm doesn't also need to author models.
What happens at the end of the 14-day trial?
If you've added a payment method, your subscription starts on day 15 at the plan and product you chose. If you haven't, your account moves to read-only mode — you keep access to all your data but can't create new projects, raise new issues, or sync the Revit plugin. We give you 60 days to either upgrade or export your data before it's archived.
Can I switch plans or products mid-cycle?
Yes — upgrades (e.g. Solo → Studio, or STING Tools → Planscape) take effect immediately and we pro-rate the new plan from the upgrade date. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle so you don't lose access mid-month.
Is there an annual discount?
Yes — pay annually and save 20% on any plan, on either product. Toggle the annual / monthly switch at the top of this page to see the discounted rate.
Do you offer educational or non-profit pricing?
Yes. Accredited universities, vocational training institutes, and registered non-profits get 50% off any Planscape or STING Tools tier. Contact us with your accreditation details.
Can I self-host instead of using your cloud?
Yes — self-host ships with Planscape Enterprise. The server stack (ASP.NET Core 8 + PostgreSQL + Redis + MinIO) deploys via Docker Compose. We provide the configuration, you provide the hardware. See the self-hosting guide for the deployment walkthrough and hardware requirements.
What's your refund policy?
If you cancel within 30 days of your first paid invoice, we refund 100% — no questions. After that we don't pro-rate refunds for the current billing cycle, but you can cancel at any time and you'll keep access until the end of the cycle you've paid for.
